Will Duke Energy confirm that wind resources exist to make the Gail Windpower Project successful?
Wind studies must be done to be able to qualify for producing, transmitting and/or selling the electrical power generated by a wind power project. Duke Energy is currently collecting data from four anemometers (met towers) in the area. After we acquire approximately one year of data, a qualified meteorologist will perform a detailed wind resource assessment to validate our plans. You are also encouraged to read the Michigan Wind Energy Resource Zone Report, which is available online at http://www.dleg.state.mi.us/mpsc/renewables/windboard/werzb_final_report.pdf.
