Hydrochloric acid also known as Muriatic acid even with 10%HCl will definitely remove calcite from sandstone. 2HCl+CaCO3(calcite)–> CaCl2+H2O+CO2(gas) In steel industries 18% Hydrochloric acid is used for the pickling of the steel. I mean to say 10% is still so strong, be care ful while handling the Hydrochloric acid.
