It really depends on the bird you choose. But be aware that many species to NOT get along. Cockatiels are very passive birds and will usually back down from a fight. But many birds are NOT passive and will actually pick a fight with another bird which could result in severe injury or death. Research your birds carefully if you must keep them together. Your best bet, however, would be to keep a second bird in a separate cage. You can then TRY the birds out together on NEUTRAL territory. But keep both eyes on them at all times. It only takes a second for serious harm to come.
