No, it will never be a match for reformatting. Reformat gives you fresh start, fresh, clean registry, “fixes” some weird errors you may be getting over the time and overally increases system performance. Reformatting means : your entire C drive ( or drive you installed operating system on ) will be completely deleted. You DO literally lose everything, if you dont back it up, yes. To back it up, you can use USB / CD / DVD / External hard drives. External drives are pretty handy, they only cost 50-100 € and you get a lot for your money – from 300-600 GB drive. Then you have to copy/paste all your personal files there, perhaps some fonts ( i do that because i am a graphic designer as well ), explore My Received Files and such things… Reformatting is the EASIEST part, really. I can reformat my computer, configure security settings, install all security software back on, in about 2 hours or less.
