Will cutting down hockey stick ruin flex points?

Ruin is not necessarily the right word, as you shorten a stick you increase the flex rating. This is an example not an actual number, but say you cut 1 inch off of a 75 flex stick, it may bump the rating to 85. The more you cut off, the higher that number goes. I have seen a stick or two out there that has marked on there what the flex rating is based on cutting it at certain points, I don’t remember the brand and I have not seen this very often. The easy solution is to buy a stick with a lower flex rating if you plan to cut it and it has that big of an impact for you. If you are taking an inch or two off of a stick, it really will not have any major impact on it. The average hockey player could not tell the difference between an 85 and a 90 flex stick anyway.
