(vanga from Caloundra) Council spokesperson: The council vegetation protection by-laws in place across the region that protect native vegetation on private land. Obviously the three previous councils had different approaches that were tailored to their specific circumstances. Common to all three approaches is the protection of our valuable natural assets which is the key to preserving our wildlife and maintaining the unique way of life residents currently enjoy and to ensure there is a balance between the needs of landholders and the environment. The challenge for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council moving forward is to bring these three different approaches together. The council takes protection of native vegetation very seriously. If you suspect someone has illegally cleared native vegetation please contact the call centre so it can be properly investigated. Will the SCRC undertake a reconciliation plan or establish an Indigenous steering committee for Council?(skate from Tewantin) C
