In a concierge model, physicians charge each patient an annual retainer which can be thousands of dollars, offsetting the need for insurance reimbursement, and allowing doctors to carry a smaller patient load while still earning a comparable income. Patients enjoy more personalized care and ease of access to the physicians time.
