WILL CHOCOLATE AND NAVY GO IN A LIVING ROOM ?
You didn’t mention any are rugs. If you are buying one for under the coffee table, this would be an excellent way to start tying the colors toether. Cappachino background with a navy design, swirl or angular, whatever you can find. Then go look for pillows in the same colors. If you can’t find any, buy two navy and theree cappuchino color and alternate them on the couch. If you know how to sew, you could add a velvet stipe to the pillows blue on the tan and tan on the blue. Or you could add ball fringe to the pillows in the contrasting color. Look for cermaic lamps in navy blue and use sand colored lampshades. find some wall hangings in the same colors. If there’s space for a vase or a bowl, look for ceramic in the curtain color. fill the vase with wheat colored dried flowers or the bowl with wooden balls, easy to find in a sand or wheat color. If you try it and feel magnanimous, send us a photograph when you finish.
I think those colors look great together. All you need is to bring in a few other navy and lighter blue accents to make it all work…area rug, pillows, art, candles, frames, etc. http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/35… http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/41… http://www.bellacor.com/productdetail/41… http://spectrumrug.com/Contemporary-Area… http://www.fastfloors.com/catalog/produc…
Just add accessories in the same tone of blue around the room to tie in the curtains. Pillows, vases, flowers, an accent chair, footstool, hardcover books with beautiful bindings, etc. The room sounds very cozy and if you like dark colours then do what you want to make your home comfortable for you. Personally, I like dark colours as I find they are very classic and timeless. I would consider adding a large area rug in a traditional theme to tone down the light floors, though. It would also give you the opportunity to add other accent colours.
Navy blue and brown are very classic colors to mix together. In fact, businessmen do it all the time (blue suit, brown shoes). I’ve also been to a beautiful wedding where the colors were navy blue and copper brown. Here’s an image that will give you the idea of how your colors can work together. http://www.katana-chanbara.com/im/articl… Consider navy throw cushions on the leather couch, a navy vase with brown feathers in it, and add a touch of beech color with beech colored cushions sitting with the navy one. Relax… it will all work… enjoy your new space!
