Currently, SmartSynch is providing 1,000 SmartMeters and the cellular network services to enable two-way communications between MLGW and participating customers. MLGW will closely monitor and evaluate the success of the project to evaluate a smart meter roll out for all customers. Currently, MLGW households use 36 percent more electricity than the U.S. average. If the trial deployments are successful and cost effective, then SmartSynch s SmartMeters and cellular networks will be considered for a complete systemwide deployment.
