Will calgon tabs affect my washing?
Calgon is the trade name of a formulation of chemicals that combine with Calcium and prevent it from being deposited on the heating elements of your washing machine. It should not affect your washing because your detergent already contains these same chemicals in smaller amounts. Unless you live in a hard water area there is no benefit to be gained by adding calgon to your wash. To check for hard water, look inside your kettle. Is there a deposit of calcium (fur) over the heating element of your electric kettle or on the bottom of your conventional kettle? If there is, you may prolong the life of your washing machine by adding Calgon.
