Will Burnley Crack Their Christmas Hoodoo?
Burnley fans must really dread the Christmas period every season. Rather than basking in the glory of a fantastic first four months of the season, a couple of poor festive showings by the clarets has put a question mark against their promotion prospects. Defeats against struggling Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers has slowed Owen Coyle’s promotion push and leaves them eight points away from an automatic promotion place going into the New Year. Although Burnley are nine points better off than this time last season and are in fact only 19 points off their entire points haul for the previous campaign, they do not seem to be immune to the predictable Christmas wobble that has curtailed a push for the play-off places in previous seasons.
