Will Bikeability cater for children with special needs?

Yes. Any young person who undertakes a cycle training scheme based on the National Cycle Training Standard would be able to work towards achieving their Bikeability awards. Most special needs children will be able to undertake the training with their peers. Currently work is being undertaken to develop specific modules of the National Standard to cater for young people who need additional training provision. Once these are completed and tested then nationally accredited instructors will be able to teach these modules (perhaps with additional training themselves). Modules will be determined for each of the three levels and a child completing such a module would achieve the appropriate Bikeability award.
