Will an SD-R2102 CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive work in an Inspiron 3800?

Among other possible problems with a Dell Inspiron 3800 I recently acquired (http://www.techsupportforum.com/show….php?t=107691), I’m pretty sure it has a bad CD drive. I’ve been offered a working SD-R2102 CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive for free, and, since I can’t afford to put any money at all into it, it’s about the only solution available to me at the moment. I think it’s made for the Inspiron 8000, and I have found a couple of references to Dell CD drives as working in both the 8000 and 3800, so it seems as though it would probably work, but I’d like to find out for sure.
