Will an Asian Win the World Snooker Championships in 2010?
In the 82 year history of the World Snooker championships, there have only been 3 occasions where someone from outside of the United Kingdom has won. The only three men to have won it from outside the U.K. are 1. Australian, Horace Lindrum in 1952 2. Canadian, Cliff Thorburn in 1980 3. Irelands, Ken Doherty in 1997 In the 2010 World Snooker Championships there is, for the first time ever, a strong presence of Asian players who are capable to win this hugely U.K. dominated sport. The four players from the East who have made it to the last 16 are; Liang Wenbo – China Anda Zhang – China Ding Junhui- China Marco Fu- Hong Kong The competition is incredibly tough this year as there are several former world champions that have yet to be eliminated.
