Hi no american or irish iphone wont work in greece if it is locked one ..To fix this you must have to unlock your iphone from present network provider ..You can easily unlock your iphone with the help of online providers like Onlinegsmunlock.com here they help you to unlock your iphone using remote unlocking service for affordable cost ..After unlocking the iphone you can freely use it with any GSM sim in any countries.

Foreign iphones will physically work in Greece but I would strongly advise not to buy one abroad to use permanently in Greece. When you buy an iphone you’re also buying the contract service plan to use it (24 months I think). So if you buy one in Ireland (where I am) you’ll be contracted to O2 Ireland, when you use it in Greece you will constantly be roaming which is very expensive. You could somehow unlock the phone and put a Greek sim card in, but you have to get the same Vodafone Greece iphone contract as everyone else while at the same time paying off the O2 Ireland contract. If you do buy one there is an automatic one year warranty which you can extend for an extra year if you pay a little extra, its called Applecare protection plan. This is valid anywhere as long as you don’t tamper with the phone. Sorry to break the bad news. ps Greece is awesome.
