In addition to damaging the respiratory system, NOX can aggravate heart disease and lead to premature deaths. NOX can also damage agriculture production and the environment. Ground level ozone hurts the growth of crops like corn and soybeans. Ground level ozone also makes the crops more susceptible to crop diseases and damage from insects.
