Will agvet chemicals and chemical products manufactured using engineered nanomaterials be assessed for safety before they are registered?
Prior to registration in Australia, the registrant of an agvet chemical or chemical product must submit data and scientific evidence demonstrating the efficacy and safety of that chemical or chemical product. Submitted data supporting the registration of agvet chemicals and chemical products containing engineered nanomaterials will be independently evaluated. Government agencies, state/territory primary industry or agriculture departments, environment protection authorities, and independent reviewers provide the APVMA with expert advice on nanotechnology registration applications.
