No that technology was invented in the ’40’s. Current and future technology will allow us to better defend against the inevitable(delaying death), better track the destruction and figure out who did it before we all die from radiation poisoning and starvation.

No advances in technology will inevitably lead to the destruction of earth. It is how we use our discoveries which could lead to the destruction of earth. Anti-Matter factories could possibly be that discovery.
