Will a PDA, Smart Phone, iPhone, or Blackberry device be encrypted?
PDA’s and other portable devices will not be encrypted as part of the initial encryption project. These devices have different security options. It is recommended that the highest level of security be used on the devices. Where applicable, • Set a password to use the device. Passwords should be 4 characters or more. • Set the device to automatically lock the screen after one minute of inactivity. • Set a new password on the device every 6 – 180 days. • Encrypt all data sent to a server (such as an e-mail server). • Encrypt the data that is stored on the device.
