Will a Mac OSX Snow Leopard operate a HP PSC 1610 All-in-one?”
NPD Group: Mac OS X Snow Leopard a major success NPD Group has reported that Apple is selling Mac OS X Snow Leopard at a much faster rate compared to their previous operating systems. The report said that Snow Leopard is in fact outselling the original Leopard by a 2-to-1 margin. Snow Leopard is also outselling the Tiger edition by 4-to-1 margin. These figures are for the two week period starting from the launch date August 28. Mac OS X Snow Leopard is a relatively minor upgrade for the Apple users. It refines the experience and most of the changes are in the backend. The company is charging much less for this update from the users on Leopard edition of Mac OS X.
Snow Leopard GCD boost Performance Apple had boasted about the prowess of new Grand Central Despatch and Open CL in the recently released Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system. Christophe Ducommun, developer of MovieGate application, stated that Grand Central Despatch and Open CL features of Snow Leopard lead to 50 percent jump in performance of the program. This was after the support for both technologies was added to the application. Apple’s Grand Central Despatch technology helps the developer to improve and efficiently maximize multi-core processors on a system. This helps the application to make the best out of multi-core processors through multi-threaded operations. The OpenCL (Open Computing Language) lets any program tap vast gigaflops of GPU computing power. Previously, the GPU’s processing power was available only to graphics programs but now the availability goes beyond them. Posted: Sep 17, 2009 2:37 PM Click to reply to this topic Reply email Email My HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner both printed and scanned under 10.5+ via the HP software provided with the device. When I upgraded to 10.6+, I lost the ability to scan. I have followed all of the steps laid out by HP to remove the printer and reinstall it using the updated drivers. Unfortunately, it will not scan. Other than System Profiler, no other software on my Mac recognizes that the 1610 even has the capability to scan. System info: MBP 1.83 GHz Core Duo, 2 GB RAM. I did a clean install of 10.6 and used migration assistant to restore files and apps from a cloned HD.
