Music has been an important fuel for social networking interactions. MySpace in particular has always been a venue and platform for musicians to interact with their fans and followers. Besides, Indies have used it successfully to launch new labels. Recently (a month back), MySpace strengthened its position further in the domain of music by lauching the Music Store that has a 5 million-strong catalog of downloadable and streamable songs from all the major labels (not indies!). Facebook on the other hand hasn’t been as strong as far as music goes. Its possible for Facebook users to stream and share music using applications like iLike and Rhapsody. However, will we see a full blwon offering in the likes of a music store emerging under the Facebook umbrella? It only makes sense for Facebook and its users. The blogosphere is abuzz with rumors that something is cooking!
