Will a euproean PS3 play Region 1 DVDs?
No, it won’t play Region 1 DVDs. I just double checked by trying it. I’ve never heard of a chipped PS3, it’s unlikely that you’d find one either since the PS3 games are almost all region-free. So you can play Japanese, US or other games on an EU PS3, but not DVDs or Blu-Ray discs. Some of the PS2 chips even stopped DVDs from working altogether, so be careful if you do find a chip that it does what you want.
