Will a caution for abh stop me from working with children?
I agree with the others you have made life hard for yourself and easy for the Police and Courts – see a solicitor for advice on how you can deal with anything arising from a CRB check and discuss the situation fully. I am not sure that you can go before the Criminal Cases Review Board with a Caution. You should caution everyone you know NEVER to accept a Caution and always to risk your day in Court. Cautions are a criminal record and that will always be dragged around with you. Whilst it may not stop you getting a job you will need to persuade an employer to hear your side of the arguement and then take a chance. Therefore you should see a Solicitor now. Best wishes.
I sympathise with you but all I know is the Irish system here you must apply for an official Police Clearance, after a few months you get a document which says the police could find no documentation regarding you on their records. This is if you have no criminal record. In your case, it sounds like you just received a caution which is not a criminal record, you would have to have been convicted of the crime for there to be a record. My advice, go down to that very police station choose a nice bored looking adminstrator and ask them if you have a record, if you do ask them how long it lasts as some records are wiped after a certain time. Good luck I hope it was just a caution, some laws are dumb, an intruder breaks into your house and you end up in trouble, crazy!
