If I’m understanding you, your laptop’s internal wireless card stopped working, so you’re going to buy a USB wireless adapter? Before you buy the adapter, there may be a simple explanation for this. Most laptops have a switch to turn the internal wireless card off. On your model it should be on the front of the laptop towards the left side. There is a wireless status light next to this – blue means it is turned on, amber means it is off. You may have accidentally flipped this switch! Try that before you buy anything. But if your wireless card is truly dead, yes a USB adapter should work fine.

I have a Belkin G Wireless router and a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, they work perfect together, however I had to call my internet server to get them linked properly together… Good luck.
