Why write a searchable database for a CCG thats essentially dead?

0

Several reasons. • This was a good CCG, and without a doubt some people out there are still playing it. So, while this may not become the most popular site, *somebody* (besides me) will get some use out of it. • It was a good way to learn more about Google App Engine *and* Magi-Nation Duel. • Because the game is out of print, I knew in advance that the number of cards (and therefore the scope of work) would be limited. In other words, the game is “done” and I won’t have to come back every three months to keep the site up-to-date. (Compare this to e.g. Magic the Gathering or Pokemon, which grow hundreds of new cards every year.) • It’s good practice for if/when I want to write a more complex searchable database for a more successful CCG.
