Why would the mayor ignore such a heated issue?
The mayor has misplaced compassion for illegal aliens whom he considers as his constituency. He has been quiet about the city’s policy of allowing sex offenders to vote and/or run for office in Neighborhood Councils because he favors the city’s rogue policy of also allowing illegal aliens to vote and/or run for office. If the mayor were to use his “leadership” to amend the city charter not to include sex offenders as stakeholders in Neighborhood Councils, pressure would also be placed on the mayor to enforce the city charter’s provision that only citizens can vote in Neighborhood Councils — and to amend the city charter NOT to include anyone who is breaking local, state, or federal law.
