Why would the blackbird in my garden suddenly desert her nest?
Your Blackbird could have been disturbed during the night and has left it’s nest,if she has been away for more than 2 hours she will not return only if she has just started to lay will she do so, Check if you can and see how many eggs are in the nest ,if any more than three she will not return,you can touch them to feel if they are cold or not. If cold and a full clutch 4-5 she will not return. Anything could have caused her to leave her nest more so if she was a first time nester, I had one beside my gate and it did not disturb the hen when the gate was opened and closed up to 20 times a day,she hatched 3 eggs and they fledged last week ,they still are in the garden.
