Why would one choose to use a SnapGrid form versus a blank canvas to start a collage project?
If you are using a larger number of pictures (e.g. four or more) in your project, using a SnapGrid is a fast and simple way of loading a lot of pictures into an orderly layout. Using the SnapGrid, you can then arrange your pictures dynamically, changing layout by using the grid to enlarge and reduce picture size and placement. The grid menu also contains a ‘Select Area’ feature which allows you to show a partial (cropped) view of the picture in any grid position. All of this is in contrast to a fixed template layout which restricts you from creatively changing making such changes. In addition, the grid can be dynamically edited by changing the margins around the outside as well as in between pictures. Once the grid has served its purpose, you can turn the grid ‘off’ and move/rescale pictures fluidly.
