Why would lubriderm fragrance free lotion burn when applying?

There could actually be several causes of this. I assume you are using Lubriderm Daily Moisture lotion, frangrance free version.

Ingredients: Water, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Ceteareth-20, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Citrate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, Ethylparaben

Really, this reaction indicates a sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients found in your lotion. Fragrance isn’t always the culprit. Cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, carbomer and parabens have all been noted to cause contact dermatitis type reactions in those sensitive to these ingredients. That being said, most people find that avoiding lotions with alcohols is all that is needed to avoid burning, but occasionally the cause is a less common one and due to one of these other ingredients.
