Why would it save the district money to demolish buildings already in place?
By demolishing buildings that the district no longer needs the district will save yearly costs on utilities (electricity, gas, water and sewer), maintenance and custodial services. The district estimates that this savings is $3.84 per square foot (SF). For a 50,000 SF building (average size elementary school) this is a savings of $192,000 per year.
