Besides… one could simple take a whole lot of two-dimensional CPU’s and configure them to act like neurons in a neural network. If the CPU’s were connected to each other to form a neural network with a configuration that allows for intelligence, intelligence (and mayhap) consciousness would probably arise from the total network. Because of the fact that a chip to replace a rat-hippocampus already exists, I think it’s safe to assume that a chip could also replace just one neuron.
