Why would Gandhis methods of civil disobedience work today?
Sounds to me like it would be easier arguing why it wouldn’t work. You seem to haven’t gotten the harder arguement. Well, for one those who were against peaceful civil disobedience would be seen as the bad guys and popular opinion would rise against them giving those protesting peacefully more power. People respond differently when they are told to attack peaceful protesting groups then when they are told to attack say a group of soldiers or rebels. Human compassion and guilt being the allies of those who advocate peaceful disobedience. However I could argue right back that if the media was controlled by your enemy and if they made you out as bad guys, the public opinion would no longer be on your side and you would have almost no power. I would say that peaceful disobedience can only work successfully when the media is freely run by people and businesses, and not by the government.
