Why would an 18-year-old female have low stored iron, but high blood iron?

My 18-year-old daughter is in her 2nd semester at college. She is extremely tired, especially after she eats. She is having problems lifting the weight bar (40 lbs.) when she usually bench presses 100 lbs. She is getting 10 to 12 hours of sleep per night just so that she doesn’t fall asleep in her classes. She was tested for mononucleosis (negative), diabetes (her fasting blood sugar was fine), thyroid (normal). The doctor at her school told her the only thing not quite right with her bloodwork was that her blood iron was high, but her stored iron was low. He told her to get more sleep. What could be wrong with her? He didn’t have any idea.
