Why would a speech-language pathologist work with a child who doesn talk?
A speech-language pathologist works with children and adults of all ages who have communication disorders. Speech-language pathologists do more than strictly help people pronounce speech sounds correctly or stop stuttering. A child who doesn’t talk needs help from a speech-language pathologist, and other members of a team, including family and teachers, to build a functional system for communicating with others and understand the communication of others.
