Why would a physician displaying expired board certification dates continue to appear on BoardCertifiedDocs.com?

• Once a certificate has lapsed, member boards must notify ABMS of those diplomates who are not currently certified. • This is sometimes delayed until it is evident that the physician has chosen not to take the recertification exam. • It is also possible that a diplomate may have recertified, but there has been a delay in receipt of that updated information from the applicable member board. • In addition, some member boards wish to continue listing physicians whose certification has lapsed. These will display with expired dates and a notation that the specialty is “Not Certified”.
