Why worry about getting gas equipment serviced?.
If gas hasn’t burnt properly or is burnt without adequate ventilation it produces carbon monoxide. If you breathe this in it mixes with your blood starving your body of oxygen and poisoning it. Symptoms can include tiredness, drowsiness, headaches, nausea and chest and stomach pains. In extreme cases carbon monoxide poisoning can kill within a matter of hours. Staff can be poisened by carbon monoxide if; • there isn’t enough ventilation in the room where the appliance is located, or • the flue or chimney is blocked and cannot vent the system properly or • the appliance has not been regularly maintained by an engineer or • the engineer is not Gas Safe Register™ registered or • the appliance has not been installed or maintained properly.
