Why won’t Windows and EnCase® see the attached drive?

• Check all power and data connections and make sure FastBloc® FE is turned on. • Check to see if the subject hard drive is spinning. If the drive is not spinning, try connecting the power connector (NOT the data connector) to a computer power supply; if it starts spinning, check the power cable that goes from FastBloc® FE to the subject HDD. • If the subject drive does not spin, or is making unusual sounds (whirring, clicking, etc…) you may have a defective drive that you may not be able to acquire by normal methods. • If the subject HDD is spinning, check the data cables. You may want to try using a 40-wire cable if you are using the 80-wire cable. You may also want to check the USB or FireWire port to make sure it is functioning correctly by inserting a “known good” device to check for functionality. • If you can validate that the FireWire or USB port is functioning correctly, check to make sure that Windows has the driver installed for FastBloc® FE.
