Why wont the RI pay employees of the KU Family (KUMC, KUPI, or KU Endowment) for extra work performed (reviewing proposals, interpret data, etc.)?

• The RI has an agreement with KU Medical Center that any professional fees for employees of the state, KUPI, or KU Endowment will not be paid by the Research Institute, but by the agency for which they work. Employees can be paid from an RI account, but still work for another KU agency. • If employed by the state, a Grant Accounting number will need to be established with Grant Accounting. You should contact the Research Institutes Grant’s Monitoring office. • If employed by KUPI or KU Endowment, the appropriate paperwork should be completed stating the RI should be billed for the additional pay. KUPI or KU Endowment will need to know your RI account number, and an authorized signing authority will need to sign the invoice from KUPI or KU Endowment.
