Why won the crews collection additional containers?
The health and safety of our Operatives is important and crews are instructed not to empty un-authorised containers. The kerbside black boxes are designed to fit onto a sill on the side of the collection vehicle for manual sorting which is not possible from cardboard boxes or plastic bags. Unauthorised containers may also contain hidden hazards such as broken glass. The recycling collection routes have been designed for optimum efficiency, and if our crews were to collect extra materials from each household this would increase their collection times, leading to delays in collections for other householders. Please take additional materials to your local Recycling Centre or Point www.wasteawarescotland.org.uk for recycling.
