Why won Serco take additional black sacks to those that fit in the black landfill waste bin?
Residents are limited to one 240 litre black landfill waste bin because we are encouraging people to recycle as landfill space is running out. Burying waste is harmful to the environment. If residents are recycling correctly (there is no limit to the number of recycling sacks that will be collected) the 240 litre bin is, in the majority of cases, big enough. If you are a family of six or more recycling all you can but still need help with your waste , please phone 01227 862 211 and ask for a waste assessment. An officer will arrange to visit your home. All councils have government recycling targets to meet (as set by EU Directives) and Kent County Council oversees Kent’s recycling performance. See Kent’s Waste Strategy for further information.
