The Xbox only knows how to read DVDs as video discs. It is does not recognize the music files on that disc as such, and cannot copy that info to its hard drive. When the say “that the only way u can store songs onto ur xbox harddrive is through cd”, what they mean is you can put a standard music cd (not mp3) in the Xbox, and it will rip the songs to the hard drive. If you want those songs on your hard drive, you have two options: 1. Get a lot of cd-r’s and copy the music files onto cd-r discs as cd audio files. Not MP3. Meaning you will only be able to get around an hour or so of music per disc. Then you can put those discs into the Xbox and have it rip them. 2. If your Xbox is setup online through a router, then you can setup file sharing between your computer and your xbox, and listen to music streamed directly from your computer.
