Why wont my product key work for microsoft 2007?

Check what version is on the product key for, I’m assuming you mean, Windows 7. Above the key, it should say something along the lines of “Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit” or “Windows 7 Professional 64-bit” This is important, as if you try to install a different version of Windows 7 with a key not made for that version, it will not work.

You meant to say the product key for Microsoft Office Word 2007 right? If so the product key for that is not the product key below your laptop. The product key for that would be found either in the case or documentation that came with the Word 2007 software. If you haven’t bought the software then you would obtain the number after buying it. Maybe you just had the trial installed and now it is asking you the product key. The product key below your laptop is used when installing the operating system(like windows vista or windows7 ) or when it asks to verify if your if windows is genuine.

Microsoft is the name of a company which makes many different software programs. Which program are you talking about? My guess is that you are trying to use the Windows Operating System product key from the bottom of your laptop to register Microsoft Office 2007. This will not work as these are two separate programs, and need to be purchased separately, and a separate product key used for each one. If you haven’t purchased Microsoft Office, then that’s what you need to do. If you have to purchase Office, then you may as well get the latest version, Office 2010. The alternative is to get something like OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org/ or LibreOffice from http://www.libreoffice.org/ which are both freeware office suites.
