Standby doesn’t save anything to the disk. If you were having trouble hibernating I could see how low disk space would be a problem. Something is poking your computer. Either a mouse that has a high sensitivity setting, a keyboard that sends a signal, a network card that is communicating, etc — Try going into standby with the mouse unplugged. — Then try going in standby with the keyboard unplugged. — Check to see if you have an old mouse or something else that is plugged into the COM1 port on the back of your computer (picture of it below). If so unplug it and then try. — Unplug all peripherals from the computer except either the mouse or the keyboard power, and monitor.
