Why won my computer complete a Defrag or ScanDisk?
Performing a successful Defragmentation: This feature is located at “Start”, “Programs”, “Accessories”, “System tools”, “Disk Defragmenter”. Please read the paragraph below “performing a successful ScanDisk” prior to using the “defrag” feature. Follow the instructions on turning off the programs running in the background, emptying the recycle bin and removing the screen saver and background. Just like the “ScanDisk” feature, all programs running in the background need to be turned off or the defrag will not complete. It can get stuck and have to start over if some kind of change is made to the hard drive during the defragmenting process. A ScanDisk needs to be performed prior to a defrag or you could defragment files that have errors. Use this feature monthly and save time waiting for it to complete.
