WHY WON’T ELEMENTARY PARENTS BE ALLOWED TO VOTE?

The topic of 5th grade parents voting was something that was discussed at length in numerous meetings. In order to effect an orderly and informed vote there had to be a cut off at some point. While 5th grade students are certainly looking forward to being part of the PRMS family, they are still currently elementary school students. If 5th grade student families were permitted to vote because they will be future students, then the same argument could be made for 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, Kindergarteners and even children who have not yet started school. By keeping the voting at the 6th and 7th grade level, it ensures that everyone participating in the vote has the same access to the uniform information (connect-eds, web information, broadcast information, etc) and ensures consistent voting procedures at just one location. If uniforms are passed then additional information will be shared with the rising 5th graders in the spring.
