That reason is that it helps prevent illegal ticket re-sales on eBay and other places. Once upon a time, guests could call a special phone line and check on their remaining days… until it was discovered that less-than-scrupulous area businesses were buying leftover tickets from guests and re-selling them for profit. This, by the way, is also known as “ticket scalping” and is illegal in the state of Florida. Since there is no longer any way to find out for sure what’s left on a ticket without going to the parks, and tickets are now using biometric identification and the valid signature of the original owner to verify ownership, re-sales have been very much curtailed.
