Why won a fluorescent light work with a motion detector?
I have a motion detector driving several small fluorescent lamps and it works fine. But another case where I tried a different motion detector, the lights would not work properly. It appeared that the relay inside the motion detector could not handle the high surge currents from the fluorescent lamps. I didn’t have time to investigate it properly. It could be that the fluorescent lamps turning off appeared to the motion detector as a moving object, which caused the detector to turn on immediately. .
