Why will the sun go dark and the moon turn to blood before the end of the world? Acts 2:20?
As in the case of the fall of Babylon and Egypt, the heavenly luminaries suddenly going into eclipse symbolizes that the present, presumptively permanent, political governments and related institutions will experience a catastrophic upheaval and collapse; no longer standing as beacons of light, hope, and security for mankind. Since the 6th chapter of Revelation also foretells the sun, moon and stars will fail at the coming of Christ, we may be certain that the crash of the present system (the 7th king) will be of such a magnitude it will provoke a reaction on earth as if the actual luminaries in the sky have been extinguished.
