The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the major U.S. agency that supports medical research, rather than the NSF. Hence, the ARI-R2 program will not provide support for the repair, renovation or replacement of facilities to be used in medical research and medical education or training, or that supports research with disease-related goals (including work on the etiology, diagnosis or treatment of physical or mental disease, abnormality, or malfunction in human beings or animals).
