I felt restless and frustrated, not knowing how to influence my environment. I became easily distressed and appalled by the news. Yet, the distress was short-lived, quickly becoming the property of short-term memory, unable to propel me into action. I knew I did not want to be a politician; I had neither the skills, desire nor patience to find my way up the political ladder. But, I knew there was a particular form of political expression I was seeking and I wanted to find a way to become involved.
